GRAPHING CALCULATOR AND ONLINE APPLICATIONS BRIEF GUIDE

CHAPTER 1

PLANE GEOMETRY AND CALCULUS IN SURFACE AREA AND VOLUME

OF SOLIDS OF REVOLUTION AND MATHEMATICAL MODELS INVOLVING SOLIDS.

1.- For some students coming from places where this is not taught at all Sum Notation becomes too abstract. This intends to bridge to proficency.
2.- Proofs for derivatives of polynomial functions: Adding, Subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
3a.- These lesson has a collection of containers filled with colored water and measuring the change of height with the same added volume of water to do a scatter plot and get a mathematical regression focusing in the best correlation coefficient but minimal complexity in calculations as demanded by the COMMON CORE STANDARDS and previously by the old CALIFORNIA STANDARDS of the 2000's.

3b.- Lesson nicknamed "Where Parrots Come to Die" that highlights the importance of conceptual understanding beyond procedural proficiency to really capitalize in the benefits of mathematics as a language to explain phenomena in a precise and concise way as required by the COMMON CORE STANDARDS and previously by the old CALIFORNIA STANDARDS of the 2000's for the first and second derivatives (Recommended to study or view before the lesson in 3a
4.- Surface Area of Solids of Revolution Using Plane Geometry and Calculus. Still in draft mode may contain some errors.
5.- Volume of Solids of Revolution Using Plane Geometry and Calculus. Still in draft mode may contain some errors.
6.- Animation of Area Revolving and Forming a Solid Of Revolution.
7.- Mathematical Modeling with Two Halves of a Bottle Calculating Surface Area and Volume From the Math Model.
