Ellipses are horizontal or vertical depending of the values for the parameters a, and b in the ellipse equation. Ellipses may be translated around the coordinate plane by manipulating the values for the center (h,k). This algebraic applet allows to drag the sliders associated with each parameter in the formula to generate the graph, and update the corresponding equation (vertical, or horizontal).
